Mark Ronson – ‘Stop Me [If You Think You've Heard This One Before]’ (SonyBMG) Released 09/04/07
Fresh from working with Lily Allen, Robbie Williams and Amy Winehouse, in-demand production guru Mark Ronson turns his attention to this Smiths classic for the first single from his ‘Versions’ album. Ronson gives the track an unlikely funk/soul makeover, helped on vocals by Aussie troubadour Daniel Merriweather. Though it retains the inherent sense of solitude and regret of the original, the upbeat production (along with trademark horns and ever-escalating strings) gives the track a new lease of life. This is undoubtedly a triumph, given how monumental the original was. Bonus points for channelling The Supremes at the end, too.
- To kerry...please shut up..hater!! Reinventing or resurfacing something from the past is giving it acclaim and tribute...you’re an idiot! The remake is wonderful and fresh...and for example..gave me a reason to look up the original! Think before you speak Kerry!

- as an ’ignorant 21st century youth’ i would just like to say yes the origional is brilliant, but this one is awsome too! and mark ronson is in no way talentless- he is great. =)
- what a load of tripe, If moz and marr were dead they would be turning in their graves!
- There are some tracks that don’t benefit from being covered, especially by someone who sings worse than a X factor reject....Absolute crap ! Just appreciate and listen to the original.
